In-House Equipment Processing Capabilities

CSG has developed extensive in-house logistics and processing capabilities that allow us to provide equipment refurbishing, remarketing and recycling services and achieve a higher return at lower cost and with minimal risk. CSG has integrated key components in the investment recovery and secondary equipment value chain that creates higher production efficiencies, more control and a higher degree of transparency for our customers.

Accurate inventory identification and management

CSG is able to achieve higher investment recovery values by being better than others at identifying equipment and understanding the value of the equipment or its component parts in the secondary market. CSG’s ability to perform this function well comes from our extensive knowledge and experience in the telecommunications equipment market selling millions of dollars of used equipment and from very detailed technical knowledge, valuation tools and processing capabilities that are unique in the industry.

Proper corporate and data security

CSG takes physical custody of all of our customers’ equipment and does not sell any equipment until after it has been fully processed at our facilities. All equipment has asset tags and institutional identifiers removed, operating systems and memory is reset to factory defaults, data is erased following Department of Defense protocols, and inoperable hard drives are punched and shredded before being sent through our materials reclamation processes.

Extensive equipment testing using OEM test platforms

Equipment is physically cleaned and subjected to full system tests using OEM test equipment (CSG maintains a Nortel DMS 500, Nortel Passport, Lucent 5ESS, Tellabs 5500, 5322, Flashwave 2400, Flashwave 4500, and ADC, AFC, Widebank, Tyco, and Emerson fixtures and load testing hardware). Equipment that passes inspection and testing is then moved to a secure static-free packaging area where it is further inspected, an asset and warranty tag is applied, and the part is placed in an anti-static bag and wrapped in at least four inches of bubble wrap before being fully sealed in a box filled with additional protective packaging.

Full equipment de-manufacturing

Equipment to be destroyed is disassembled and broken down to individual component parts, including cards, plug-in modules, backplanes, wiring, frames, and scrap metal parts.

Capture, sort and weigh high-value recyclable components

These components are then separated by equipment type and potential recycling yield, and then weighed before being transported to the designated processor. Samples from each shipment sent to our processors are tagged and sent to a third party testing laboratory for composition analysis to be used for validation of processing yields reported by each refinery partner.

Proper environmental disposal

CSG has established and maintains industry best practices regarding the proper handling of electronics waste including batteries, generators, hazardous waste, fuel, oils, and other industrial fluids. State and local disposal requirements have been extensively mapped to internal procedures and policies to ensure that waste materials are properly identified, sorted, disassembled, recovered, transported, and ultimately documented.
